First technical workshop concerning road kill issues in Italy
On 30 October 2013 the first technical workshop has taken place in the frame of the LIFE STRADE project, at the headquarters of Marche Region in Ancona.
The event had initially been conceived as an opportunity for technical exchange among the project staff, but it has then been extended also to the participation of external experts. This allowed to examine the road kill issue from several perspectives. In the morning session presentations were made by national experts about ecological networks, the evaluation of the impact of roads on biodiversity, landscape planning, the role of monitoring, the choice of different prevention tools, the role of the IENE network and the management of the road kill issue in other Italian regions. In the afternoon session the technical staff of the project partners have presented previous experiences about monitoring and road kill management.
This event has allowed to make the Project known at national level, considering that over 80 persons belonging to several public and private organizations have participated with live interest.
